KATHMANDU, Sept 19: President Ramchandra Paudel has stated that the current constitution has united Nepal’s ethnically, linguistically, religiously, culturally, and geographically diverse society under the broader framework of national unity, ending all forms of discrimination and oppression created by a centralized and unitary state system.
On the occasion of Constitution Day, the President conveyed his greetings, expressing hope that the federal democratic republican system will inspire everyone to come together to achieve sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity.
President Paudel emphasized that Nepal’s constitution envisions a socially just and egalitarian society and aims to build a socialist-oriented economy. He highlighted the importance of ensuring equal access for all citizens to state-provided services and facilities, as well as guaranteeing social security for the general public.

He called on everyone to translate the spirit and essence of the constitution into practice through dedicated efforts of mind, word, and deed, urging honest and effective contributions from all.
President Paudel also expressed confidence that Nepal can quickly rise as a prosperous nation if it ends all forms of malpractice and manages water resources and energy efficiently, as the country’s culture and natural resources offer immense opportunities for employment and income generation.
The constitution guarantees equal protection for the country’s unique geographical structure, comprising the Himalayas, hills, and Terai, as well as its multiethnic, multilingual, and multicultural character. In this context, he expects that nothing should threaten the mutual harmony, brotherhood, and coexistence among Nepalis.
Constitution Day (National Day) is being celebrated today in remembrance and honor of the historic achievement of promulgating the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on September 20, 2015. On this occasion, the President extended his greetings to all Nepali brothers and sisters at home and abroad. He paid heartfelt tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their invaluable lives for the establishment of the federal democratic republic.
He also expressed respect and admiration for the leaders of political parties who led various movements for the establishment of the republic and highly appreciated the contributions of ordinary citizens and political activists who participated in the democratic movement.
