Commercial banks’ profit declines 8.61 percent to Rs 8.38 billion in a month

KATHMANDU, Sept 17: Commercial banks of Nepal earned a profit of Rs 8.38 billion in the first month of the current fiscal year (FY).

According to a report prepared by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), 20 commercial banks secured the aforementioned amount as net profit during mid-July and mid-August of the current FY. The amount was 8.61 percent less compared to the cumulative profit worth Rs 9.17 billion in the same period last year.


Global IME Bank secured Rs 784.50 million and led in terms of the profit earnings. Nabil Bank was second, earning a profit of Rs 716.4 million. The earnings of 11 commercial banks declined, while nine banks were able to increase their profit.
