Collection of preliminary details of loss in ministers' quarters begins

LALITPUR, Sept 16: The collection of preliminary details of loss and damage incurred at the Federal Ministers' Quarters, along with the quarters of the province chiefs and chief ministers in Bhainsepati, Lalitpur during the Gen Z protests, has begun.



The federal secretariat said tentative details of the damaged structures from the September 9 protests will be prepared within a week. According to the secretariat's superintending engineer, Chakrabarti Kant, the collection of preliminary details has gained momentum.

A total of 27 well-equipped buildings, constructed on 96 ropani and 10 Ana of land in Bhainsepati for federal ministers, the chairperson and vice-chairperson of the National Assembly, and the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, were completely torched and vandalized.


It may be noted that the ministers had moved into the residence just last month.


Similarly, the contact offices constructed for the province heads and chief ministers of all seven provinces on 27 ropani and 12 ana of land were also damaged during the unrest.


Currently, the Nepal Army has been providing security to the Federal Ministers' Quarters and the provincial contact office located in Bhainsepati. The federal secretariat has stated that maintenance and other works will not proceed until the damage assessment report is received.
