KATHMANDU, Aug 9: The monsoon trough has shifted slightly north in the east and hovers close to Nepal’s Terai in the west, setting the stage for a wet day ahead.
Heavy rain predicted in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki areas

The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) predicts generally cloudy skies nationwide this afternoon, with moderate rainfall likely in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and the hilly areas of Karnali Province. A few other regions may also experience showers, while isolated areas in the hilly belts of Koshi and Bagmati could be affected by heavy rain.
Tonight, clouds will continue to blanket the skies across the country. Moderate rain is expected in some parts of the hilly and Terai regions of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, along with scattered showers in other areas. One or two areas in the hilly zones of Koshi and Bagmati, and Madhesh Province, may face heavy downpours.
