Clash among inmates at Kailali Prison leaves one dead, 47 injured

The police have not disclosed the reason for the clash; however, they said that the clash occurred due to an internal conflict between inmates of Blocks A and B of the prison.

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Inmates engaged in a violent clash at Kailali Prison on Friday night, leaving one dead and 47 injured.



The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Bharat Chaudhary of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-4, who had been in custody on a drug-related charge, according to Kailali Police.

Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kailali, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Singh, told Republica that the injured are undergoing treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital and three of them are reported to be in critical condition. Security personnel have been deployed at the hospital.
