KATHMANDU, April 21: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a charge sheet at the Special Court in Kathmandu against Dinesh Prasad Yadav, a surveyor working under contract at the Bagmatinagar Land Pooling Project, Gaurighat, which operates under the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority.
The CIAA has filed a charge sheet against him on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth more than Rs 32.94 million. According to CIAA, it has been confirmed that Yadav accumulated more property than his legal income between August 2, 2006 and July 14, 2024.
CIAA files fifth case against Sunil Paudel
During that period, Yadav's legal income amounted to Rs 24.22 million, while his expenditures reached Rs 57.166 million, according to the CIAA. According to the CIAA, there is a negative discrepancy of Rs 32.94 million between Yadav’s legal income and his total expenditures, indicating that this amount was illegally acquired.
The CIAA has also demanded the confiscation of his current assets, which were allegedly increased using the unexplained and illegally obtained income. Legal action has been sought under Section 20 (2) and 47 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002 (2059 BS), and Section 29(b) of the CIAA Act, 1991 (2048 BS).
Similarly, the CIAA has stated that Yadav had registered the illegally acquired property, along with assets increased through such unlawful means, in the name of his wife, Amrita Kumari Yadav.
According to CIAA Spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Paudel, to facilitate the confiscation of those assets as well, Amrita Kumari Yadav has also been named as a defendant in the case.
