KATHMANDU, April 16: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Tuesday appealed to the Supreme Court (SC), expressing dissatisfaction with the Special Court's verdicts in two corruption cases.
The CIAA had charged Baikuntha Adhikari, the then Provincial Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives in the former Province No 5 (now Lumbini Province), with misusing Rs 4.37 million. As per the approved annual program for fiscal year 2018/19, Adhikari allegedly committed corruption by procuring low-quality mini-tillers instead of those promised in the agreement under the Agricultural Mechanization Program. The Special Court pronounced its verdict on April 1, 2024.

CIAA Spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Paudel said the commission challenged both rulings at the SC due to dissatisfaction with the decisions.
