KATHMANDU, May 7: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has appealed the Supreme Court (SC) against the Special Court's verdict that acquitted Engineer Binod Pun, the then acting chief of the Infrastructure Development Office in Salyan.
The CIAA had accused Pun of causing a loss of Rs 714,041 by failing to complete the Sundardanda-Thangnekhola road construction in Ward No. 15 of Sharada Municipality as per the contract. Dissatisfied with the acquittal, the CIAA filed the appeal on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the CIAA also filed a chargesheet at the Special Court against three individuals, including Gaurishankar Kumar Singh, the then chief administrative officer of Feta Rural Municipality in Bara, and Navaraj Niraula, managing director of Nepal Media House Pvt. Ltd.
The CIAA charged them with causing illegal gain and financial loss to the state by submitting false information in a public notice related to the procurement process for erecting electric poles and wiring in Feta Rural Municipality. The chargesheet named both those who authorized and received the payments as defendants.
