KATHMANDU, April 30: The government has decided to make the box office system mandatory in all cinema halls and movie theaters across the country. This provision is outlined in the Film Bill 2081 BS, which was registered in the National Assembly on Sunday.

According to the bill, all tickets must be issued electronically through a system integrated with the Film Development Board's software and server. Ticketing data will be transmitted in real time to the central film management system.

The Board will collect real-time data through this software, and movie theaters must issue tickets using unique codes for each film. The bill also requires theaters to implement encoding systems for film screenings.

If a theater screens films without using the box office system, the government can impose a fine of up to Rs 1 million, confiscate equipment, and order the closure of the cinema hall.
