Bijay Prasad Mishra elected as NBA President with 5,052 votes

Senior Advocate Prof Dr Bijay Prasad Mishra has been elected the President of Nepal Bar Association (NBA) with a total of 5,052 votes, defeating his closest rival by a margin of over 2400 votes.

KATHMANDU, April 10: Senior Advocate Prof Dr Bijay Prasad Mishra has been elected the President of Nepal Bar Association (NBA) with a total of 5,052 votes, defeating his closest rival by a margin of over 2400 votes. 



Senior Advocate Raman Shrestha, the closest contender, polled 2,621 votes, 2,431 less than Mishra.

Dr Mishra now heads a complete panel composed of 25 office bearers.


Candidates aligned with the Democratic Lawyers Association (DLA), close to the Nepali Congress, won 12 seats, including the president. Similarly, 12 candidates from the Progressive Professional Lawyers Association (PPLA), affiliated with the CPN-UML, also won, including the general secretary. Additionally, one candidate supported by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has also emerged victorious.
