KATHMANDU, Aug 6: Bhaktapur police have initiated an investigation against alleged gangster Milan Gurung, commonly known as Chakre Milan, in connection with an attempted murder case dating back a year.
The case stems from a complaint filed at the Police Circle Thimi , accusing Chakre and others of orchestrating an attack on Manish Rayamajhi at the Tawa Restaurant in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur. The complaint, lodged by Manish's uncle, Dinesh Kumar Rayamajhi, claims that the incident took place on 26 August 2024, when a group including Ajit Khawas of Hariban Municipality-4, Sarlahi, assaulted Manish with sharp weapons, leaving him seriously injured.

At the time, Bhaktapur police had arrested and filed a case against Khawas. However, Chakre was not named as a primary suspect due to his whereabouts being unknown. Police now plan to reopen the case with Chakre listed as a key suspect. Bhaktapur Police spokesperson DSP Dhundiraj Neupane confirmed that the case is being actively pursued.
Chakre Milan is currently in police custody in Kathmandu after being arrested last Thursday night during a birthday party at Hotel Sambala in Maharajgunj. He was among 47 people detained from the event. Nineteen of them, including Chakre, are being investigated for disorderly conduct.
Once Kathmandu police conclude their investigation, Bhaktapur police are expected to take over and proceed with further action in the attempted murder case. Although Chakre did not directly carry out the attack, he is suspected to have masterminded it.
