Bhagwat Bhattarai elected President of SEJON

Bhagwat Bhattarai has been elected president of the Nepal Economic Journalists’ Society (SEJON), defeating his closest rival, Bishwas Regmi, by 18 votes. Bhattarai received 110 votes, while Regmi secured 92.

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Bhagwat Bhattarai has been elected president of the Nepal Economic Journalists’ Society (SEJON), defeating his closest rival, Bishwas Regmi, by 18 votes. Bhattarai received 110 votes, while Regmi secured 92.



Bhattarai had previously contested the vice-presidential post but was unsuccessful, while Regmi served as general secretary. Kamal Basnet has been elected as the new general secretary and Keshu Lamichhane as treasurer.

In the elections, Achyut Puri was defeated in the general secretary race and Mamata Thapa lost the treasurer election.


Jeevan Basnet was unanimously elected as vice president and Shankar Pandit as secretary. The newly elected members include Arjun Tamang, Kamal Dhital, Bhojraj Bhandari, Raju Banskota and Seema Tamang.
