BAGMATI, April 22: The Bagmati Provincial government has spent only 32.51 percent of its total budget in the first nine months of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25.
According to Indra Raj Sanjyal, Information Officer at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, the provincial government spent 28.24 percent of the capital budget and 40.51 percent of the recurrent budget between mid-July and mid-April.
Karnali Province spends only 31pc of budget in 10 months

According to Sanjyal, in the first nine months of the current FY, the provincial government spent a total of Rs 20.98 billion. This includes Rs 10.49 billion under the capital expenditure and Rs 10.49 billion under the recurrent expenditure.
The provincial government had introduced a total budget of Rs 64.54 billion for the FY. According to the official, capital expenditure has been lower compared to recurrent expenditure.
Among the allocated budget, the Office of the Provincial Chief Attorney has spent the highest at 68.43 percent, followed by the Provincial Assembly Secretariat at 43.69 percent. On the other hand, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation have spent the least, utilizing only 16.43 percent of its budget.
Information Officer Sanjyal stated that during the first quarter of the FY, recurrent expenditure tends to be higher while capital expenditure remains low. He explained that the current low spending is due to many projects only being implemented in recent months.
