KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Bagmati Province Chief Minister (CM) Bahadur Singh Lama has resigned from his post, stating that he was compelled to step down due to internal maneuvering within his own party, the Nepali Congress.
Announcing his resignation at a press conference held at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers at 6 PM on Sunday, Lama said he stepped down on the instructions of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba. Lama, who assumed office on July 24 last year, served as chief minister for one year and nine days.

In his address, Lama accused elements within his party of orchestrating a plot that forced him to leave the government. “I was working with sincerity and honesty, but I had to resign due to a conspiracy within my own party,” he said, “I will not run away from this episode, but it signals a serious threat to democracy and republicanism.”
During the press conference, Lama also presented a summary of the progress made during his tenure as the chief minister.
