BHAKTAPUR, Aug 1: Bagmati Province has been officially declared a fully immunized province in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The announcement was made at a special event organized by the Provincial Ministry of Health. According to the Ministry, all children aged between 16 and 23 months in the province had received full vaccination before reaching 15 months of age, as verified by the National Full Immunization Coordination Committee under the federal Ministry of Health and Population.
With all 13 districts and 119 local units in Bagmati Province meeting the criteria, the province has now been declared fully immunized.
During the event, Prime Minister Oli handed over the official certification to Provincial Health Minister Kiran Thapa and also inaugurated the province’s digital health program.

Congratulating the province, Prime Minister Oli emphasized that the “Healthy Nepal” campaign is crucial to achieving the national goal of Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali. He stressed the importance of health not only for people but also for animals and plants, and called for cleaner cities and villages.
“Diseases may occur, but we must work to eliminate the causes and routes of transmission. Vaccination is one such powerful solution, and I’m pleased to see this campaign succeed,” he said.
Oli also highlighted that Nepal’s constitution enshrines health as a fundamental right, and that the immunization campaign reflects meaningful progress toward realizing this right.
He said that Nepal is set to graduate from a least developed to a developing country by 2083 BS (2026 AD), and such campaigns contribute significantly to that goal. He further encouraged other provinces to launch similar initiatives.
At the event, outstanding health workers and female community health volunteers were recognized and honored for their contribution to the campaign.
Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Bahadur Singh Lama credited the dedication of the health sector workforce for the campaign’s success.
