KATHMANDU, Sept 16 : As households across the country prepare for the biggest Hindu festival, Dashain, the Nepal Panchang Nirnayak Bikas Samiti has officially announced the auspicious moment for receiving Tika this year. Families will mark Bijaya Dashami on October 2, with the “sait” for Tika set precisely at 11:53 AM.
Dashain, a festival that brings together relatives from near and far, begins this year on September 22 with Ghatasthapana. The sacred ritual of sowing barley seeds in sand, symbolising prosperity and new beginnings, is scheduled for 9:13 AM. Over the following days, homes and temples will reverberate with worship, offerings, and gatherings as devotees honour Goddess Durga in her various forms.

The celebration culminates with Bijaya Dashami, when elders place Tika and jamara on the foreheads of younger family members, offering blessings for health, happiness, and longevity. This year, the ritual of Devi Bisarjan, marking the formal conclusion of the festival, has been set at 9:23 AM on the same day.
For many, these precise timings are not just ceremonial details but cherished markers that uphold cultural traditions. As the date draws closer, excitement is already building in homes, marketplaces, and villages, signalling the arrival of Dashain—the festival of family reunions, blessings and joy.
