KATHMANDU, Sept 9 — Nepali Army Chief Ashokraj Sigdel has appealed to protesting groups to enter dialogue in order to find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing unrest.
In a televised address on Tuesday evening, Sigdel expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and property during the demonstrations. He extended condolences to the bereaved families, wished eternal peace for the departed souls, and called for the speedy recovery of those injured.

“It is our collective duty to normalize the current difficult situation and safeguard the supreme national interest,” he said. “I therefore urge all sides to suspend protest programs and choose the path of dialogue.”
Army Chief Sigdel stressed that maintaining peace, security, harmony, and national unity is the shared responsibility of all Nepalis. He reaffirmed the Nepal Army’s commitment to protecting the nation’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security of its people.
Sigdel also emphasized that the ongoing protests must not endanger national and historical heritage, public and private property, ordinary citizens, or diplomatic missions of friendly nations.
Concluding his brief address to the nation, he called on all Nepalis to move forward together in the spirit of national harmony and unity while honoring the motherland.
