KATHMANDU, April 19: Afghanistan secured a spot in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup based on net run rate, despite having the same 7 points as Nepal, after their crucial match was canceled due to rain. The game, originally scheduled for 9:30 am, was called off at 2:00 pm.
Afghanistan topped the World Cup Asia Qualifier league standings on net run rate, clinching their place in the World Cup.
Revised interest rate corridor system introduced

Nepal, which qualified for the previous World Cup from the Asia region, came close to repeating that success. However, heavy rainfall made the pitch unplayable in their final league match, causing Nepal to miss out on the World Cup. In the previous edition, Nepal defeated Afghanistan to secure their spot. This time, Afghanistan overtook Nepal to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Both Nepal and Afghanistan defeated Hong Kong, Oman, and UAE in this edition of the world cup qualifiers.
The U-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 will take place in Zimbabwe and Namibia in January and February.
