KATHMANDU, July 17: Actor and comedian Deepak Raj Giri has taken a sharp jab at the government, using satire to criticize ministers recently embroiled in bribery scandals exposed through leaked audio recordings.

Posting on Facebook on Thursday, Giri sarcastically suggested that ministers now require formal training on how to accept bribes discreetly. “Please, someone train ministers on how to take bribes. You can’t stop them from accepting bribes, so at least teach them how to keep it out of the news! Otherwise, soon there won’t be anyone left to appoint as minister,” he wrote.
Giri’s remarks come in the wake of controversy surrounding Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Rajkumar Gupta and Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Balram Adhikari. Both have been implicated in accepting large sums of money through illicit dealings. While Gupta has already tendered his resignation, Adhikari continues to face mounting public criticism.
