KATHMANDU, May 9: Lawyers, individuals related to the legal sector, and the judiciary in the nation are celebrating the 73rd Law Day today. The celebration focuses on strengthening public trust in the judiciary, ensuring access to justice for all, and promoting judicial governance.
This day holds special significance for those passionate about law and justice. After the establishment of democracy in 1951, the government issued the Supreme Court Act in 1952, and the country began celebrating Law Day on 26th Baishakh, the day King Tribhuvan affixed his royal seal.
73rd National Democracy Day being observed today

The Act was published in the official gazette on 8th Poush, 1952 BS, leading to the formation of the Supreme Court, which laid the foundation for the present-day apex court in the nation.
The day marks the establishment of an independent, impartial, and neutral judiciary, separate from the Executive, and signifies the beginning of the rule of law and the modern judicial system.
The Supreme Court celebrates the day this afternoon with a special program in the presence of President Ram Chandra Paudel as the chief guest and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli as the special guest.
