52 individuals including six Chinese nationals arrested for operating dating app and crypto business

KATHMANDU, July 2: Police have arrested 52 people, including six Chinese nationals, for operating illegal dating apps and cryptocurrency transactions in Lalitpur.

Acting on a tip-off, the CIB arrested the individuals from Damkal Chowk at Baliphal of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-4. The Chinese nationals arrested are Jan Lun, 29, Chen Jiahawo, 27, Lin De, 41, Su Zheng, 32, Liu Jejuan, 30, and Su Linghua, 33.


According to the police, Social Software Development Company Pvt Ltd had been registered at a house in the place of arrest and a call center and Metoo dating app was being operated legally and its branch has also been established in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-13.


Similarly, online dating scams and crypto transactions were found through dating apps by luring various Nepali girls, police said.


According to the police, Rs 1,399,950 was recovered from them.
