KATHMANDU, May 22: The number of Nepali nationals who died in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ten months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25 has reached 261.
According to the details released by the Embassy of Nepal in the UAE, 30 Nepali migrant workers died in Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August), 32 in Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September), 33 in Ashoj (mid-September to mid-October), 35 in Kartik (mid-October to mid-November), 24 in Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December), 13 in Poush (mid-December to mid-January), 25 in Magh (mid-January to mid-February), 17 in Falgun (mid-February to mid-March), 17 in Chaitra (mid-March to mid-April) and 35 in Bhaisakh (mid-April to mid-March).

In the past 10 months, an average of more than 26 Nepali workers died each month in the UAE. In the last FY 2023/24, a total of 231 Nepalis lost their lives in the UAE — an average of 19 deaths per month.
The causes of death included road accidents, workplace incidents, heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases.
