JANAKPURDHAM, May 17: A clash ensued between students and the management of a Wonder Land Water Park in Ramdaiya, Kshireshwornath Municipality-1, on Saturday.

A large number of students were invited under the guise of a special discount, but after being denied entry, they became enraged and vandalized the park. To control the situation, the police fired two rounds of tear gas and arrested ten individuals.

The Krishna Foundation, an organization, coordinated with the operators of the Waterland Park to offer special discounted tickets to students who had recently given their Grade XII exam.

Normally priced at Rs 950, the tickets were sold for Rs 100 via E-Sewa. As a result, a large number of students arrived at the park early on Saturday morning. However, the dispute began when park staff restricted entry, citing a lack of space.

During the dispute, agitating students accused the park staff of physically assaulting them, which led to the students engaging in vandalism. According to Police Inspector Sanjeev Kumar Yadav from the Dhanusha District Police Office, tear gas was fired after stones were thrown at the police officers who had arrived to control the situation.

In connection with the incident, ten individuals have been arrested and are being interrogated. Police Inspector Yadav also stated that five police personnel were injured during the stone-throwing incident. Park Manager Abhishek Goyanka stated that the Krishna Foundation had rented the park for two hours, from 9 to 11 am on Saturday, for the purpose of promoting educational institutions.

“The park has a capacity of 1,000 to 1,500 people, but they brought over 2,000 students,” said Goyanka, “Due to the excessive number of students, the management was unable to handle the situation, which led to the vandalism.”

While it is estimated that the students caused around Rs 2 million in damage by vandalizing the gates, lights, and decorative materials, the exact details are still pending, according to Goyanka.

The Krishna Foundation had planned to gather Grade XII graduates at the water park starting a week ago, with the aim of motivating them to pursue their studies at the college of their choice. The unpleasant incident occurred when more students attended than expected, as they were able to enter the park and enjoy the entertainment at a discounted ticket price.
