KDC grants permission to keep Prasai in custody for additional two days

KATHMANDU, May 22: The Kathmandu District Court (KDC) has permitted the police to keep Durga Prasai in custody for additional two days to carry out further investigation. He was arrested in connection with the Tinkune protest that broke on March 28 



According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Apil Raj Bohora of the Kathmandu District Police Office, the District Court granted the extension to continue the investigation.

The police have said that the investigation into the Tinkune incident is in its final stages.


A total of 53 individuals are currently in police custody in relation to the case. Of them, 26 individuals, including Prasai, are being investigated on charges of crimes against the state and organized crime. The remaining 27 individuals are being investigated on charges of criminal mischief.


Police are expected to submit their report to the District Government Attorney's Office (DGAO), Kathmandu, within a few days. Once the report is submitted, the DGAO will file charges and register the case at the KDC.


In connection with the Tinkune incident, 37 individuals, including Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice Chairman Rabindra Mishra and General Secretary and Member of Parliament Dhawal Shamsher Rana, have been released on bail.
