LAMJUNG, July 24: Six people, including the driver, were injured after an auto rickshaw veered off a landslide-prone road and fell nearly 100 meters into the Marshyangdi River in Besisahar Municipality on Thursday afternoon. Among the injured, two are reported to be in critical condition.
According to Inspector Rajkishor Sah Teli of the District Police Office, Lamjung, the accident occurred around 1:30 pm when the vehicle, bearing registration number Ga. Pra. 04-001 Ha 0285, lost control while en route from Besisahar to Khudi and plunged into the river near the landslide-affected Kharkhare section.

Police personnel reached the site soon after being notified and, with help from locals and passersby, rescued the injured and transported them to the Provincial Hospital in Lamjung for treatment.
Of the injured, 45-year-old Syanu Maya Gurung and 45-year-old Sushmita Tamang are in critical condition, suffering serious injuries to various parts of their bodies.
Anjali Gurung, 35, and Dhana Kumari Gurung, 48, sustained moderate injuries, while the driver, 30-year-old Top Bahadur Lama, and 40-year-old Shila Devi Gurung sustained minor injuries.
The vehicle remains submerged in the Marshyangdi River and has not yet been located. Police say a search operation is underway.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, and authorities are attempting to contact the vehicle owner.
