School-going teenager raped, breaks arm upon resisting

LAHAN, Jan 23: Police have arrested a teenager on the charge of raping a 17-year-old girl who was on her way to school.



According to the police, the teenager raped the minor who was on her way to school at around 5:45 am on Wednesday in the southern area of ​​the Koshi Western Canal in Bishnupur Rural Municipality-7,Saptari. Saptari Police Spokesperson DSP Jitendra Kumar Basnet said that Akhilesh Kumar Mandal, 19, of Bishnupur-1, has been arrested on the charge of rape and action has been taken against him.

While resisting the rape, the teenager's left arm was broken and there were bruises on various parts of her body, DSP Basnet said.


The victim girl said that while she was going to college on her bicycle at 5 am like every other day, the accused Mandal tried to stop her at a secluded place near the Majhau Tole. She has also told the police that she broke her arm while resisting the crime.


Likewise, DSP Basnet said that the accused Akhilesh Kumar was arrested based on the complaint of the girl, an 11th grader.


Basnet said that further investigation was started by obtaining 10-day detention permission from the Saptari District Court on Thursday against the accused Kumar.
