Jagman claims govt imposing restrictions on assembly, press conferences and public demonstrations

KATHMANDU, April 21: Jagman Gurung, coordinator of the Joint People's Movement Committee (JPMC) for the restoration of monarchy, has claimed that the government has started imposing restrictions on events such as, press conferences, and public demonstrations.



In a press release issued today, Gurung made this claim. He said that the JPMC has drawn serious attention to the fact that the government has started banning peaceful gatherings, press conferences, public demonstrations and other programs, in violation of the democratic rights and human rights inscribed in the constitution.

He condemned the government's authoritarian actions, which violate the natural rights of citizens guaranteed by the constitution, and warned the government to immediately halt such unconstitutional activities.


In this context, he also called on national and international human rights organizations, media outlets, and individuals to raise their voices in protest.
