KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Nepal’s electricity imports have been gradually declining.
He noted that while load-shedding for households was eliminated in the past, power cuts continued in industries. Now, he said, electricity supply to industries has also improved.
According to Oli, Nepal exported electricity worth Rs 4.5 billion this year. Sharing the update on social media on Saturday, he wrote: “We have been reducing electricity imports. In the past, industries still faced power cuts even after households were free from load-shedding. Now, supply to industries has improved, and we have succeeded in exporting electricity worth Rs 4.5 billion this year.”
