KATHMANDU, June 27: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has launched a signature campaign in support of its detained party President Rabi Lamichhane. On Friday, the party set up solidarity booths at 13 locations across the Kathmandu Valley.
Booths have been established at areas including New Bus Park, Balkhu, Koteshwor, Patan Durbar Square, Chabahil, Jawalakhel, Lagankhel, Basantapur Durbar Square, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
The campaign will expand to all 77 district headquarters on Asar 14, and RSP plans to further extend it to the ward level.
The party has labeled the charges against Lamichhane- fraud, organized crime, and money laundering as an act “political revenge.” RSP leaders say the campaign is a protest against this alleged injustice.
Earlier, on June 21, marking the party's third anniversary, Lamichhane had announced the campaign through a 20-page document. Currently, Lamichhane remains in police custody at Rupandehi District Police Office, where he has described the actions against him as a form of persecution.
