Postmortem of 28 bodies completed at TUTH, seven charred beyond recognition

KATHMANDU, Sept 15:  The Forensic Department of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, has completed postmortem examinations of 28 bodies.

The hospital is currently conducting postmortems for those who lost their lives during the Gen Z protests. As many as 46 bodies have been brought to the hospital for examination so far, according to Dr Gopal Chaudhary, head of the Forensic Department. 

Ghaudhary stated that 23 bodies have been claimed by their relatives, while seven remain unidentifiable. DNA testing is required for the unidentifiable bodies. In cases where identification is not possible, dental and fingerprint analysis is conducted.

Dr Chaudhary said, “The bodies have gunshot wounds, burn injuries and blood injuries. We are conducting postmortems for those for whom official letters have been received.”

Currently, 22 patients are receiving treatment at the hospital.
