KATHMANDU, March 31: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli visited the office of the CPN (Unified Socialist) party to assess the damage caused by a recent arson unleashed by the pro-monarchy protesters. The attack occurred during a rally organized by pro-monarchy groups last Friday.
During his visit, PM Oli was briefed by Unified Socialist leaders, including Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and senior leader Jhalanath Khanal, about the extent of the damage. Oli also personally inspected the rooms affected by the fire.
On Saturday, CPN (Maoist Centre) leaders including Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal also visited the site to evaluate the damage. Protesters had set fire to various documents and furniture within the party office, and there were also reports of looting.
This marks PM Oli’s first visit to the CPN (Unified Socialist) office, which was formed after a split from the CPN-UML in 2021. The Unified Socialist was founded by leaders like Nepal and Khanal, who had been critical of Oli's leadership style within the then Nepal Communist Party (NCP), which was formed after the merger of CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Center).
