KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The District Administration Office, Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchok has decided to restrict vehicle movement during night hours along the BP Highway until mid-September.
The DAO made the decision due to the highway’s fragile geographical condition, where landslides frequently block the road even during light rainfall. The route had already been damaged by last year’s monsoon, making it highly vulnerable this season.
A meeting of the District Security Committee, Kavre, on Sunday decided to prohibit both public and private vehicles from operating between 5 PM and 5 AM along the section from Kavrebhanjyang to Bhakundebesi towards Sindhuli.
According to Assistant Chief District Officer Sudarshan Shrestha, the rule will be effective from September 1-16. Authorities have urged travelers and transport operators to remain cautious and cooperate in minimizing risks. Previously, the restriction was in place only until August 31, but it has now been extended.
