NEPSE sheds 3.44 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 9.24 billion

KATHMANDU, May 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined marginally by 3.44 points to close at 2,620.39 points. 

The secondary market opened at 2,623.83 points, first soared to the day’s high at 2,645.67 points in the first 10 minutes. However, the index went to a successive fall and lost around 25 points in the remaining period before the market closed for the day.

Out of the 13 groups, only five were registered as gainers. Manufacturing and processing added the largest of 44.13 points. Of the losers, trading lost the highest of 38.18 points.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 0.51 points. Daily turnover amount dropped by nominal amount to Rs 9.24 billion from Rs 9.37 billion on Wednesday, the last trading day of the last week.

Among the individual companies, 117 were gainers while 128 were recorded as losers. Sanima Mai Hydropower had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 604.86 million.

Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the biggest loser.  Nepal Micro Insurance Company, Crest Micro Life Insurance and Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Limited by adding 10 percent in their market values were recorded as the topmost gainers.
