KATHMANDU, Sept 13: Following the appointment of former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as Nepal’s interim prime minister on Friday night, the Nepali Army appears to have lifted curfew and prohibitory orders in the Kathmandu Valley. Streets across the Valley have seen increased activity since early Saturday morning, signaling a gradual return to normalcy.
The army, which took command after the escalation of Gen Z protests, had imposed daily curfews and prohibitions in the Kathmandu Valley and the surrounding districts for four consecutive days. No new orders have been issued since Saturday evening.
Earlier, essential services were allowed from 6–11 AM and 5–7 PM, while prohibitory orders applied from 11 AM–5 PM and curfew from 7 PM–6 AM the following day.
