KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Nepal marked Constitution Day and National Day 2082 BS with formal celebrations across the country on Thursday. The main ceremony was held at Tundikhel under the chief patronage of President Ramchandra Paudel.
Prime Minister of the interim government Sushila Karki addressed the event, which was organized in a more restrained manner this year. In view of the current political transition, no tableaux or cultural processions were featured.
Nepal’s Constitution 2072 BS, hailed as the outcome of a long and arduous struggle of the Nepali people, was promulgated by the second Constituent Assembly on Ashoj 3, 2072 BS. After years of deliberations, the historic announcement was made by then President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav at the Constituent Assembly hall in New Baneshwor.
