KATHMANDU, June 24: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) issued a whip directing its lawmakers to be mandatorily present at Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives.
NC Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire, issued a whip on Monday, instructing all members to attend the meeting without fail, not to remain neutral, and to vote in favor of the budget proposal for the fiscal year 2025/26.
Meanwhile, the NC has postponed its Central Committee meeting by a day. Party General Secretary Krishna Paudel issued a statement informing that the meeting, initially scheduled for June 29, will now be held on June 30 at the party’s central office.
Another ruling partner, the CPN-UML, had already issued a whip directing all its parliamentary members to be present and vote in favor of the Appropriation Bill for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26 on Monday.
Earlier on May 29, the government had tabled the Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2025/2026.
