MALEKHU, July 8: As the water level of the Trishuli River surged due to flooding from its upper reaches in Nuwakot, two human bodies have been found in separate locations in Dhading district.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Subash Hamal of the District Police Office, Dhading, the bodies of two men were found at Belkhu in Gajuri Rural Municipality-6 and at Keureni in Galchi Rural Municipality-2.
The river’s water level has risen significantly since early Tuesday morning. A body being cremated along the banks of the Trishuli River in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 was also swept away by the sudden surge, according to local resident Kumar Basnet.
A joint notice issued by the District Administration Offices, Dhading, Nuwakot, and Rasuwa on Monday night warned of rising water levels in the upper basin of the Trishuli River due to heavy rainfall. Residents living near the riverbanks have been urged to stay on high alert.
Ordinary public has also been advised to immediately inform nearby security agencies of any potential flood, landslide or other natural disaster.
