KATHMANDU, Jun 1: Police detained Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa during a pro-monarchist protest at Narayan Chaur in Kathmandu on Sunday.
They took him into custody while he was participating in the demonstration demanding the restoration of the monarchy.
According to the District Police Range (DPR), Kathmandu, a total of six protesters were detained after a scuffle broke out between the police personnel and the protesters.
The police have identified the arrested as Sheela Rana, 62, of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-5; Rakesh Basnet, 32 of Thimi Municipality; Ram Chandra Lamichhane, 34, of Panchakanya Rural Municipality-1; Binod Kapali, 33, of Tokha Municipality-2; and Saroj Timilsina, 34, of Changunarayan Municipality. According to the DPR, all the six individuals arrested have been kept in custody at the DPR Office, Bhadrakali.
