Heavy rainfall likely in some Koshi, Madhesh places

KATHMANDU, May 31: Westerly and local winds are currently affecting the western and central regions of Nepal, while monsoon winds are influencing most parts of Koshi Province.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), Meteorological Forecasting Division, reports that skies will remain partly to generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, as well as in the hilly regions. The rest of the country will see partly cloudy conditions.

A few places in Koshi Province, some areas in Madhesh Province, and a few hilly regions elsewhere may experience light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning. One or two locations in Koshi Province could receive heavy rainfall. Light rain or snowfall may also occur in a few areas of the high-hill and mountainous regions.

Tonight, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, along with the hilly regions, will remain partly to generally cloudy. At the same time, the rest of the country will see mostly clear to partly cloudy skies.

A few areas in Koshi and Madhesh Provinces, some hilly regions, and one or two other locations may see light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning. One or two places in Koshi and Madhesh Provinces could also face heavy rainfall.

Since light rain or snowfall may affect some high-hill and mountainous areas, the DHM urges the public to stay alert and take necessary precautions, as the weather could disrupt daily life, agriculture, health services, roadways, and air transport.
