LAHAN, May 18: The Siraha district chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) said it would take action against fellow journalists engaged in what it called “non-professional activities in the name of journalism”.
In a statement issued today, the FNJ Siraha chapter warned of disciplinary action against district journalists engaged in and found defying the standard journalists norms under the guise of journalism.
Manoj Banait (correct?) yes, chairman of the FNJ, Siraha district chapter, said some individuals claiming to be journalists were visiting various government and non-government offices, local bodies, business organizations, police stations, and hotels with an intent to intimidate and bargain for money. Some are allegedly found to have been indulging in organizing press conferences, and raising money unethically.
He said such behaviors only damage and hurt the reputation of the journalism sector. “This forces FNJ SIraja to take disciplinary action against those involved.”
