KATHMANDU, June 3: Uruguayan Non-Resident Ambassador to Nepal, Alberto A. Guani, met with Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, for a courtesy call.
They met today at the Ministry of Energy in Singha Durbar and discussed various areas of cooperation in the energy and irrigation sectors between the two countries.
Minister Khadka highlighted the government’s goal to generate 28,500 megawatts of electricity by 2035 and urged development partners to extend their support and cooperation to help achieve this target.
During the meeting, Minister Khadka praised Uruguay's achievements in wind and solar energy and called for identifying opportunities for technical cooperation and investment in Nepal's renewable energy sector. He emphasized Nepal's strong potential to expand cooperation in trade, energy investment, sustainable development, and tourism.
Uruguayan Non-Resident Ambassador to Nepal, Guani, highlighted Uruguay's significant experience in wind and renewable energy and expressed the country's willingness to share that expertise through technology transfer and exchange.
He added that Uruguay could benefit from Nepal's skills, expertise, and experience in water resource management, and proposed mutual knowledge exchange. Senior officials from the ministry also attended the meeting.
